June 10 sees an online conference between HFU and DHIK (Association for International Cooperation of German Colleges and Universities), presided by Hans Wilhelm Orth, DHIK Director of Department of China and Vice President of University of Applied Sciences Lübeck, in which, Wu Chunmei, HFU President, and Dieter Leonhard, Chairman of DHIK, on behalf of both sides, sign a cooperation agreement.

This agreement will further expand the cooperation between HFU and universities in Germany, Switzerland and other German-speaking regions. Through the cooperation, HFU hopes to play a leading role in actively promoting Sino-German education cooperation for the development of China's applied higher education.

Composed of 34 universities of applied sciences and those of technology with the most proficient teaching and research staff in Germany and Switzerland, DHIK is entrusted by German Federal Ministry of Education and Research for international exchanges and cooperation under the support of German Academic Exchange Center. Its member universities have altogether 250,000 students and 5,800 professors.

HFU is the second university in China where DHIK has carried out the cooperation, through which, the two sides will promote cooperation in such bachelor and master programs as Intelligent Science and Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing, and New-energy Vehicles. Besides, HFU is ready to cooperate with German universities that have such intentions to jointly cultivate HFU students and German students from DHIK member universities, and actively carry out cooperation in teaching and scientific research, academic exchanges, as well as teacher training.

In recent years, HFU has always adhered to the school-running guideline of “Locality, Application and Internationalization” in the hope of constructing a high-level applied university, and Sino-German education cooperation demonstration base. So far, it has established inter-university cooperation with 19 German universities, and 10 undergraduate double-degree programs.
